Ok. So I'm finally update this.

I made a calendar of the jewish year with all the months and major holidays but it looked stupid when I tried to put it on here, so you'll have to take my word that I did it.

The upcoming holiday is Tisha B'Av (the 9th day of Av) which is the 2nd most severe fast right behind Yom Kippur. This holiday commenmorates the first and second Temples being destroyed.

This is obviously not a happy holiday.

Why do I want to be Jewish?

A lot of people have asked me why I decided to convert. I expected as much and first I had no idea how to answer. I felt a pull towards Gd in this direction and now at 20 I've decided to go with it. The little things got me interested in Judaism. I read Anne Frank's diary when I was 12 years old. In her I saw the embodiment of hope even though she was being knocked down.

I grew in the presbyterian church with my mother. My dad never went to church. At times I hated going and other times it wasn't so bad, but all the same I never felt moved. I pretty much stopped going when I hit my mid teens. My ex-boyfriend kinda pushed me into going to a non-denomination church when we going out. I still felt nothing. Towards the end of our relationship I started going to the temple and reading more on the subject. Our relationship ended soon after and I believe part of the reason was because of my decision to convert and what his family would think.

I've been going to temple nearly 4 months now and everytime I go I feel like a weight has been lifted. I want to get involved more and learn hebrew. I want to go to shul more but my working saturdays makes it hard to get there.
